What can I expect at the Celebration Worship Service?

We typically begin with the lighting of the Christ Candle by one or two of our young people, followed by a musical offering from the Senior and/or Junior choir. After the Opening Prayer and the Lord's Prayer we all join in to sing a hymn which is followed by the Children's Time. After the children's time any children wishing to attend Sunday School are taken by the Sunday School teachers to the Sunday School area which is located upstairs.

Both our services range from an hour to an hour and 15 min.

Please do, we love having kids of all ages at Central. Loud or quiet, they're welcome in worship, Sunday School and other activities within the life of our church. We have a fully equipped nursery and a "Kids Zone" room located adjacent to the Fellowship Hall.

Wear what makes you feel comfortable. You can wear a suit and tie, formal attire, or casual clothing like jeans and a T-shirt.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS????
Here are some answers to questions that may help you find out more about us........

Yes, if you have any questions at all, Pastor Troy would be happy to help - whether than means a friendly conversation or connecting you with someone who can help guide you through the church service. Everyone has their own story. Some people have always gone to church, some never have been. Regardless, we're really glad you want to learn a bit more about Central United.

Whether you are of a different religious tradition or none at all, or just beginning to learn about the Christian faith - you are welcome at Central United. God made you, so come exactly as you are. We're a diverse group at Central, and we believe that everyone has something to offer. Everyone is also welcome to take communion as we practice an "Open table".

The Original Railway Church

At Central we are big on Faith, Love & Community. Our mission statement clearly states what we believe and how we seek to fulfill our spiritual lives.

"Empowered by the Spirit we build a caring community for all people. To grow in faith through the good news of Jesus, to celebrate God's presence, to love joyfully and to provide help and hope.
This service is a contemporary worship event, led by Central's "praise band " The Messiah's Misfits." It is designed to be informal, and come-as-you-are. The message is designed to include more dialogue, and questions and comments during the message are more than welcome. This service tends to be edgier than our traditional worship service; the band likes to "rock it out." and we'll even see children dancing in the aisles. Coffee is available before, after and during the service.
If you have other questions that we have not answered please email us and/or call our church office 519-631-3503. Office hours are weekly between 8 a.m. and noon; however, leave a message if you call after hours and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
Is there a Sunday School at the Celebration Worship Service?
Yes, we provide the opportunity for children to leave after the band has led a time of musical praise. However, children are not required to leave, they can stay or leave as they (or their parents/grandparents) desire.

What can I expect at the Traditional Worship Service?
There is a Bible reading and a message from the Pastor and more singing as we love music. Everything is shown on our large screens in the sanctary plus an easy to read bulletin is available from the greeters as you enter the church. You will find us a rather informal "lot" so do not worry about not knowing all the "in"s and out's" of worship. Service is followed by coffee, tea and conversation in our adjoining Fellowship Hall. A chance to "get to know folks" if you wish.
